If you’ve got a body problem that’s causing you to blush, don’t book yourself a stint on Embarrassing Bodies just yet. Every body sign from dandruff to fungal toenails is just a symptom of an imbalance that can usually be corrected by a simple change in your diet, reducing stress or by taking a herb or supplement.

Increase pre and probiotic foods in your diet including fermented sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir and unpasteurised miso. Eat more slowly, chewing each mouthful thoroughly before swallowing. Drink a cup of warm water with a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar before meals.

Halitosis or bad breath may be due to post nasal drip, where mucus drains from the sinuses and drips down the back of the throat. Use a saline nasal irrigation each morning and take a supplement containing vitamin C, garlic, golden seal, eyebright and zinc.

If you want to tackle fungal infections ban sugar from your diet. Fungi like sugar even more than you do. Apply tea tree oil direct to fungal toenails and skin, using milder tea tree lotion for more sensitive parts. A few minutes of sunshine and seawater also works wonders.

Ease the pain of cold sores by applying a cooled used tea bag to the area. Dry the blisters by dabbing on diluted apple cider vinegar (half vinegar, half water). Take vitamin C, zinc and Echinacea to help prevent future outbreaks.
