Non-communicable disease such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes are now starting a trend in India. So to combat that, you are advised to regularly drink cranberry juice every day.
WHO estimates that over the three diseases every year claiming 15.6 million lives worldwide. By doing so, more research is done to prevent the disease starts from food.
The researchers say, cranberries provide a rich source of protective compounds called polyphenols. It can support our body’s natural defenses and help create a balanced lifestyle to improve health.
To find the effectiveness of cranberries are rich in polyphenols, researchers from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) conducted a study for eight weeks, involving 56 healthy adult volunteers, average age 50 years.
“At the beginning and end of the experiment, the researchers measure things like blood pressure, bloodsugar levels, blood lipids and C-reactive protein, a marker of inflammation,” said Christina Khoo, Director of Science Research at Ocean Spray.
One group drank a glass of low-calorie cranberry juice twice a day. The other group drank a placebo with the same color and flavor.
A person who drank two glasses of low-calorie cranberry juice a day increased in all these measures. There are changes that can be associated with a 10 percent lower risk of heart disease and a 15 percent lower risk of stroke.
